Just graduated from the Esthetician program and I highly recommend this school! I’m kind of lazy to leave reviews, but I know they are important especially for us, costumers, so here we are 🙂
I just want to say ZMS is a school that wants you to succeed. They go above and beyond to equip you, so you can get your license right after graduating, and that’s exactly what happened to me. And I’m grateful for that! Thanks to all the material and teachings they provided, my test was a success. I’m also grateful for my teachers Ms Shahla, Ms Dolores and Ms Judy, I learned a lot from them! And thank you Max, for always being so kind and joyful, you for sure make a difference in this school.

I graduated from ZMS in May of this year and my experience was very 50/50. Ms. Judy is extremely dedicated to setting her students up for success. From the moment that I met her and took a tour of the school, I felt very welcomed. She is very genuine and wants the best for her students. I enjoyed every theory class taught by Ms. Dolores. She’s really patient and will answer your questions, no matter how many times they’ve been asked. The book material that is covered in theory is everything you need to learn to pass your state board exam. No more, no less ! My ONLY complaint is that I really did not enjoy the lab days. During my time there, Ms. Shahla was the lab teacher. She was a temporary teacher and, from my understanding, is not currently teaching anymore. She was very condescending and sometimes just downright rude. Her tone would change drastically, depending on which student she was talking to. There were a handful of times where I saw her make students feel very uncomfortable and insecure, myself included. Halfway through my school term, I found myself not asking many questions anymore because she would just make me feel stupid. It wasn’t until I told her that I was graduating in a couple of weeks, that she wanted to make an effort to really teach me, so that I wouldn’t leave feeling like I didn’t learn anything. At that point, I wasn’t really interested in learning from her; I just wanted to finish up my hours. During my tour, Ms. Judy casually brought up that we would also learn Brazilian waxing. When I asked Ms. Shahla about Brazilian waxing, she very clearly stated that she would not teach it and even had an “icky” expression on her face. She told multiple students “if you can wax an underarm, you can do a Brazilian. It’s the same thing.” I was very hesitant about writing this review because I don’t think my experience in the lab reflects the school as a whole, but I wanted to be brutally honest. With a new lab instructor in place, I 100% recommend the esthetician program. It’s unfortunate that my experience was not super great because the school is, otherwise, VERY nice. And the entire staff is super helpful. Shoutout to Max for being so welcoming every morning

Im not a review type of person but I think ZMS has potential to be a great school. During my education at ZMS I experienced learning from 2 instructors. Truthfully, I was never taught anything new or different after my first 3 months at ZMS. The staff members make you feel like you’re bothering them when you ask them questions or have any concerns. Ms Shahla is very informative but often can come off rude. Personally, I don’t think calling students «retarded», «farm animals «, » annoying » , and screaming at them is what a good teacher does. This kind of treatment ONLY make students feel discouraged , unsafe , unwelcome and DISRESPECTED. Front desk receptionist, Ms. Jezreel, was always very helpful and courteous to all students. Staff member Max was always very welcoming of all students. However, I can’t truly say I would recommend this school unless you are thinking of becoming a barber. ZMS goes above and beyond for their barber program and provides them with the ultimate support from contest, fun activities and study sessions. However, I can’t say the same for the esthetician program and cosmetology. Often products would be expired , moldy or have hairs!!! When you enroll to this school you will pay $600 for your initial kit which includes items you can personally purchase yourself on Amazon & DOLLAR TREE and COPY PRINTED PAPER BOOKS!!! I decided to write an honest review after seeing students I went to school with who would share how unhappy they were with their education come on and say the complete opposite due to fear of not receiving their backbars once they are licensed. If you are thinking of becoming an Esthetician PLEASE invest in a school who sees you for more than just your money . I hope ZMS can take this review and make their program a healthier learning environment for all the future estheticians.

I’ve been going to Neihule for over 2 years now and this is the only place I get my pedicures now. I love how they are so affordable. I have always had a great experience. The only con, is how long the service takes. Granted, there are students doing the services so I give them grace. I always go with my laptop, a good book, or something to work on, and usually the time goes by way quicker. The students are always super sweet. There’s always a teacher there supervising the work.

I was a student at Neihule and I decided to enter the nail program in the evening. While I was in school, I got hired at another job and it took me an hour to get through traffic to get to school every week day. They give you a 30 min grace period, however Unfortunately with traffic I was arriving 10-15 minutes after the grace period. I spoke to the school administrator about it and really wanted to continue the program, however they said it was the policy and preferred that I withdraw from the program than to work with my schedule. I was completing all of my work on time and scoring high on all of the testing, therefore I was disappointed that they wouldn’t work with my schedule. In the end I had to withdraw and find another school. They sent me a withdrawal invoice in which they overcharged me for the nail kit that they gave me when I entered the program. The nail kit is filled with a lot of wholesale cheap products that we can all purchase at the Dollar store. The only items that cost anything were the acrylic and gel powders. The students have to purchase their own nail drill, and nail design brushes, etc. Overall the kit was not worth $1,000. I want to end my review by saying that the instructors are amazing and this review is not directed towards them. My frustration is mostly with the school and their inconsideration for working students who are trying their best to make ends meet and go back to school at the same time.

Overall, I had a very productive and positive experience at the school. But let’s break it down the good, the bad, and the ugly:

The good: obviously, you have to consider the price. Anywhere that you can get a $35 full cut/style for a woman with long hair is kind of astonishing. For a beauty school, $35 is expensive, but this is the only school in the area that uses luxury products. Rather than drugstore brands, you’re getting Kevin Murphy, Oribe, Keratase, and other high-end products. Additionally, all of the instructors seem very involved, and very experienced, and the students seem to feel very empowered to ask for help if they need it. My stylist consulted with an instructor and they both took five minutes to speak with me to really make sure that I wasn’t allergic to any of the shampoo choices ( I have some allergies). I even saw one of the founders and owners of the flagship salon helping out students and working on clients there at the school! The particular student who did my hair listened exactly to what I said, and did exactly what I wanted. I got an excellent haircut that I am extremely happy with. Pics to follow.

The Bad: really, the only problems with the school are the fact that it’s a school. You should know what you’re getting into with prices that low and the fact the liability waiver is required before you receive your service. I didn’t actually have any negative issues that way, but I read some of the other reviews before going to the school, and they all seem to be “I didn’t realize I was going to a school”. The students may take extra long because they don’t know exactly what they’re doing. If you ask for something really complicated or using cutting edge techniques, they may be unfamiliar with it and do a subpar job. If you’re very vague about what you want, they don’t have the massive decades of experience to interpret vague client statements. This isn’t the place to go if you were really looking for the equivalent of that $160+ haircut that you would get it your typical LA salon. Expect student service, albeit truly excellent student service, but again, you’re going to a school.

Sidenote – the stylist who did me did not give a very good scalp massage while shampooing, but by God, did she make sure that I got the entire five minutes promised in the service description! It was super cute and adorable.

The ugly: my only real complaint, the only issue with the school outside of it, ya know, just being a school, caveat emptor, is that the entire place reeked of chemicals. They have a real ventilation issue, and by the time I left, I had a bit of a headache. That has nothing to do with my haircut. I’m extremely happy with my haircut, and I saw several other people getting mail and coloring services. They looked super great. But the odor of bleach and hair dye and nail polish remover was really really strong.

Overall, I would recommend this for any budget, conscious person in need of a haircut, or if all you need is a simple trim or blunt cut.

Yesterday, I spoke to one lady on the phone about coming in today for a mani pedi. She told me I could walk in and was very friendly. Today, when I showed up, after driving 2 hours and paying $10 to park a few blocks away, a different lady at the front door turned me away and said that no walk ins are allowed while she is working. I decided to go to Kc Beauty because it was the most affordable. There’s pros and cons. Pros you MIGHT get a good teacher, I got an amazing instructor but it was very short lived. There’s another teacher there Ms.Julia who I believe is still there and she’s great. Another pro is you MIGHT make some good friends. Now the cons, the staff can be really weird sometimes. I had a weird experience with Wendy she would often say rude condescending comments like if I’m not an adult with two kids just trying to make a career for myself. The student kit was not worth it to me personally it was very over priced for cheap stuff I would’ve rather bought stuff myself. There education is just us reading out loud together. I hardly learned anything and I would’ve rather studied alone which I had to do to prepare for my test at the end. They treat you like you’re a kid in middle school at times and I thought that was really bizarre. Also don’t expect them to help you find a job all the job listings they give you at the end are outdated and you won’t get hired at any. Last con is they are super cheap when it comes to certain things everything’s old broken and the facials we do are so repetitive and basic you won’t learn much about how things are in the real world. I don’t feel like they prepare you at all for the real world and a lot of people don’t make it passed school. Some of the teachers I had , had this weird know it all all attitude and were often reminding us that we were not licensed for no reason. To me the cons outweigh the pros but I still got what I needed from the school which was the hours.

Esthetician student here! Our esthetician instructor goes above and beyond in making sure that you are well prepped for the real (esthetician) world. Ms. Julia made learning such a fun experience, and I never went a day without learning something new.
Although state board test prep was not explicitly part of the curriculum (while I was a student), Ms. Julia did everything in her power to make sure that we were all well prepped for the exam. In all the six months that I studied there, every student who graduated passed their state board exam. Thank you for everything, Ms. J!

I went to the school during Covid To get my manicurist license. It was a great experience. My instructor was Ms.bessie and she is amazing she really cares about her students. She still follows up with me to this day and it’s been over a year since I graduated. I love how they were able to work with my schedule and I was able to do night classes. Once I accumulated enough hours I was able to sit down for my State board and I ended up passing on my first try so huge thanks to them!

Few Great teachers, bad management. High cost of programs. Have to beg teachers for better presentation and to elaborate. No disciplinary system for students misbehaving, because the more they come to school the more money the school can pocket. Therefore expect to be disrespected and nothing done about it. Dean Ms Bessie is a joke. Make up rules as she goes. If you request more time on a subject like anatomy and physiology which should be granted without an issue being that its all relatively new to students you’ll be informed to continue to practicals don’t worry about theory even though you will be tested on it. Huge waste of money.

Really happy with my hair wash and conditioning here! Stylist was really nice and gentle. FYI they open for customers at 11:30 although they were nice enough to take me at 10:30 cause a class got cancelled

always amazing service. today’s japanese straightening treatment couldn’t have been better. the staff here are top tier professionals. only the best of the best make it into KC SALON. incredible work for the price. i worked with them for years doing their websites. not being biased, just honest. they are a fantastic establishment who pay close attention to detail. used to go to get my hair done at KC academy and always great work there too.

I was so happy when KC Academy announced a KC salon, I love their style.
I always let my hair grow very long and then I get tired of it and get a haircut. I have really curly hair and to get a decent hairstyle with curly hair as a man can sometimes be a challenge if the stylist is not used to it.
But every time they surprise me so I keep coming. And prices are reasonable.

I definitely do not recommend working with Reverence and Melissa Arnold. A few months ago I signed a contract for the distribution of pigments. I deposited several thousand dollars. Unfortunately, to this day I have not received the ordered and paid pigments. Melissa is constantly explaining herself, every now and then there is a new problem, she is aggressive, sends inappropriate and unprofessional photos… I was robbed. The case will end up in court. The lawyer is already notified. The case will be reported to the police as theft. I do not recommend.

October of 2022 l made a contract for pigments distribution with the company called REVERENCE BEAUTY from USA . I paid 5000 dollars on 24th of October and was promised to receive products within 2 weeks.
Time was passing and l started to worry, the company owner Melissa Arnold stopped answering to any messages, her husband as well. Apparently there are no one else in the company who could answer any questions.
I’ve got even more worried and understood that something is definitely wrong when l was contacted by another distributor, they have exactly the same issues.
Now we are 4 distributors from different countries with similar issues. Some of distributors waiting for their orders since last year April-May!!

The company owner replied saying that her all family was ill which is understandable, then she disappears then she says that they are packing and preparing orders, then dissapears again, when l ask about tracking number no response.
Another time she comes back with excuses that they dont have bottles to fill in the pigment because there are delays from where she orders them.
Since it has been long time ( over 2 months) and so many excuses and lying l did ask for refund which she refuses to give, she says «It does not exist»!
Since l asked for refund l didn’t hear from for 3 weeks.
All the conversations were unprofessional and arrogant blaming everyone else. The company owner feels she didn’t do anything wrong.
This situation cost me so much stress, money and time. I hope after this post people will be aware of this company before making any decision.

After posting this post on another huge pmu group there are much more people who are in the same situation!!
